Desmos

Graphing calculators have really changed the curriculum. Years ago, a great deal of time was spent on how to solve systems of linear equations, for example, x+y=10 and y=x+8; Students spent weeks on learning the elimination method and weeks on learning the substitution method. Currently, the End of Course test (EOC) has one question on systems without the calculator. With the graphing calculator, the student just needs to input the two equations in the system and then click on the point of intersection.

Both 7th and 8th graders have weekly activities, learning how to solve problems they will see on the Math 1 EOC with the Desmos graphing calculator. Please watch this two minute video (click here) to see how easy it is to solve problems with Desmos.
